Finnish Universities Achieve Strong Results in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026

Finland’s universities deliver strong global impact in the 2026 ranking. A closer look highlights both world-leading excellence and broad academic strength.

Top 100 placements highlight Finland’s academic strength

Finnish universities continue to punch above their weight globally, with strong representation in top 100 across disciplines:

  • University of Helsinki leads in breadth, with almost twenty subjects in the Top 100 – including standout areas like Education (#30), Agriculture & Forestry (#38), Linguistics (#47), as well as multiple fields ranked in the 51–100 band such as Communication & Media Studies, Earth & Marine Sciences and Geophysics, to name but a few.
     
  • Aalto University stands out for excellence at the very top, ranking #9 globally in Art & Design and #36 in Architecture – and ranking in top 100 also in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, Mineral & Mining Engineering, and Marketing.
     
  • University of the Arts Helsinki / Sibelius Academy continues its global impact in the arts, scoring high in Music (#13) and Performing Arts (#21).
