Finnish universities continue to perform strongly in global comparisons, with 10 institutions placing in the CWUR 2026 Global 2000 - all ranking within the top 8 percent worldwide.
The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) has published its global academic rankings annually since 2012. The ranking evaluates universities on key indicators including quality of education, employability of graduates, faculty excellence, and research performance.
In its 2026 edition, CWUR assessed nearly 21,300 higher education institutions worldwide.
Finnish universities once again secured strong positions, with several institutions featured in the prestigious Global 2000 list:

- Aalto University #372 (top 1.8%) - Regional rank (Europe) #141
- University of Turku #395 (top 1.9%) - Regional rank (Europe) #152

These results highlight the strong international standing of Finnish higher education, with all listed institutions placing within the top 8 percent globally.
