Finnish higher education institutions continue to attract strong international interest. For studies beginning in autumn 2026, approximately 15,000 international students have been offered a place in degree programmes across the country.

In total, Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences received applications from around 28,800 international students to English-taught bachelor’s and master’s programmes starting in autumn 2026. Of these, 12,100 applications were submitted during the national joint application period in January, while the remaining applications were received through separate application rounds held between late 2025 and spring 2026.

As student selection processes near completion, about 15,000 applicants have received admission offers. Of these, approximately 8,000 were offered admission to universities and 7,000 to universities of applied sciences (UAS).

The highest number of applications came from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Nepal, China, and Iran. Among the most popular fields of study were business, information and communication technology (ICT), and engineering and technology. Programmes in health and welfare also attracted significant interest.

Applicants who have been offered a study place are required to confirm their acceptance by the deadline specified by their institution. Once confirmed, students can begin the process of applying for a student residence permit and prepare for their move to Finland.

We warmly congratulate all newly admitted students and look forward to welcoming them to Finland!
