Finnish universities' top 100 placements in 2026
This year, Finnish universities achieved a total of 33 top 100 subject placements.
The University of Helsinki has the largest number of Finnish top 100 placements, appearing among the world's top 100 in 11 subjects. Its highest position is #24 in Ecology.
Other particularly strong results include the University of Turku at #26 in Dentistry & Oral Sciences, Aalto University at #31 in Marine/Ocean Engineering, and the University of Helsinki at #35 in Dentistry & Oral Sciences.
Strong Finnish expertise across academic fields
The 2026 results highlight the breadth of Finnish universities' academic strengths. Top 100 placements range from ecology, dentistry and agricultural sciences to engineering, telecommunications, business, law, nursing and public administration.
Among Finnish universities, the University of Helsinki records the widest range of top 100 subjects, while Aalto University and the University of Oulu also achieve several strong placements across different fields.
